ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Cook position. As a member of out team, you will participate in preparation of volume cooking and portioning of meals in a juvenile detention and/or residential setting. You will also assist with the inventory and the maintaining of stocks of food and supplies, including receiving, unpacking and storing of food and supplies.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU MUST BE AT LEAST TWENTY-ONE (21) YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT.

THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL SOME POSITIONS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES FROM LAS VEGAS , 2400 ANGEL PEAK PL, LAS VEGAS, NV 89124.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND two (2) years of full-time experience in large-scale institutional food preparation and volume cooking.

All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Working Conditions: Work evening, weekend and holiday shifts. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Clark County Health Card.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical institutional kitchen setting and use institutional kitchen equipment, strength to lift materials weighing up to 100 pounds, vision to read printed materials, stamina to stand and/or walk for an extended period of time, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
