POSITION SUMMARY

In this position, the Court Liaison Specialist will coordinate and schedule legal proceedings, such as court appearances and depositions between Fort Lauderdale Police Officers, Public Safety Aides and other police department personnel, the Clerk of Courts, the City Prosecutor, the Office of the State Attorney, Public Defender’s Office, and private attorneys.

In accordance with Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769, for posting purposes this open-competitive job posting shall be considered as a simultaneous internal and external posting (it is open to both internal City employees and external applicants).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalencyOne (1) year experience in police support activities. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education.Successfully complete an in-depth employment background check, including a polygraph exam, will be conducted as part of the post offer onboarding process as this position is deemed security sensitiveIf claiming Veterans’ Preference, you must attach a copy of the DD214 Member 4 form (or other supporting claim documents) to your on-line application. Preference Qualifications: Experience working in any court related entity, such as State Attorney's Office, Public Defender, or law enforcement agency's court liaison unit.Experience utilizing court databases such as CCIS or Broward County's Odyssey program. Special Requirements:
As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position is generally sedentary. Employees sit most of the time, but may walk or stand for brief periods of time
