DescriptionUnder close supervision, assists the Convention and Visitors Bureau Manager by handling inquiries regarding events, amenities, lodging, and attractions in Bakersfield; maintains a visitor center lobby; and performs other work as assigned.
Representative DutiesThe following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of the position's essential duties. They are descriptive, not limiting.
Essential Duties: Maintains a visitor center lobby that promotes Bakersfield as a destination for visitors; Promotes tourism and event opportunities to Bakersfield visitors; Keeps informed on aspects of area-wide activities to assist visitors; Works closely with local lodging establishments and local attractions to gather and maintain a comprehensive inventory of information about Bakersfield amenities and events; Serves as a liaison with travel partners to assure visitors have the most up-to-date information; Serves as a liaison with travel writers to suggest accommodations, attractions, and amenities.

- Graduation from high school or G.E.D., supplemented by course work in business practices, bookkeeping; AND
- Four (4) years’ guest services and/or clerical experience of progressively responsible nature; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the capabilities to perform the described job duties.
Examination (Weighted: 100%) June 4, 2026 (Tentative) An appraisal will be made of the applicant's experience, education, training, certification, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal qualifications for the position. A minimum passing score of 70% is required.
