The Town of Longboat Key Is accepting applications for a Full-Time GIS Administrator in our Information Technology Department. A pre-employment physical and drug screen will be required, except for current employees who have met the requirement.

Essential FunctionsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Designs, administers, configures, and maintains the Town’s enterprise GIS infrastructure, including GIS servers, enterprise geodatabases, web GIS environments, cloud-based GIS services, and related applications.
- Administers and supports Esri enterprise technologies including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Survey123, Field Maps, StoryMaps, and associated GIS services and extensions.
- Designs, develops, deploys, and maintains internal and public-facing GIS web applications, dashboards, mobile applications, and interactive mapping solutions.
- Develops GIS automation workflows utilizing Python, ModelBuilder, APIs, scripting, ETL tools, and other automation technologies to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Collaborates with Town departments to identify business needs and develop GIS-based solutions, dashboards, workflows, and applications to support operational and strategic initiatives.
- Meets regularly with department leadership and staff to evaluate business processes and identify opportunities for GIS integration, spatial analysis, automation, and data-driven decision making.
- Leads development and implementation of the Town’s long-term GIS strategic roadmap, modernization initiatives, GIS governance standards, and enterprise GIS architecture.
- Evaluates emerging GIS technologies, software platforms, cloud services, artificial intelligence tools, and geospatial innovations for applicability within Town operations.
- Administers enterprise GIS databases and spatial data systems, including schema design, data architecture, versioning, replication, security, backup procedures, and performance optimization.
- Develops and maintains GIS standards, metadata requirements, quality assurance/quality control procedures, naming conventions, and spatial data governance policies.
- Integrates GIS with enterprise business systems including permitting, work order management, asset management, public safety, utilities, financial systems, and document management platforms.
- Provides technical guidance, training, and support to GIS users and departmental stakeholders throughout the organization.
- Assists with emergency operations, damage assessment activities, continuity of operations, and GIS support functions during declared emergencies, weather events, and disaster recovery operations.

Knowledge, Abilities, & QualificationsJOB PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES- Advanced knowledge of enterprise GIS architecture, administration, and geospatial technologies.
- Strong proficiency with Esri enterprise technologies including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Survey123, and Field Maps.
- Advanced experience with GIS server administration, enterprise geodatabases, web GIS environments, and GIS infrastructure design.
- Strong proficiency in GIS application development, automation, scripting, APIs, Python, and integration technologies.
- Knowledge of relational databases, SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, database administration, and GIS data management principles.
- Knowledge of local government operations include planning, utilities, public works, emergency management, engineering, permitting, and asset management processes.
- Working knowledge of public utilities, infrastructure systems, public safety
operations, emergency management, or asset management systems is highly desirable. - Ability to analyze complex business processes and develop effective GIS-based operational solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to evaluate technical and operational needs and recommend scalable solutions.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical users.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Geospatial Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Urban Planning, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of progressively responsible professional GIS experience, including enterprise GIS administration, application development, spatial database management, and GIS infrastructure support.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience developing GIS web applications, dashboards, automation workflows, and enterprise GIS solutions.
- Experience administering and supporting Esri enterprise GIS technologies including ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.
PREFERRED- Experience with Python scripting, GIS automation, APIs, and application integrations.
- Experience working with enterprise geodatabases, SQL databases, and GIS server infrastructure.
- Experience supporting or developing GIS solutions for local government operations is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of public utilities, infrastructure systems, public safety operations, emergency management, or asset management systems is highly desirable.
- GISP certification or Esri technical certifications are preferred.
- Experience with cloud-hosted GIS environments, enterprise integrations, and mobile GIS solutions is preferred.
- Experience with asset management systems, permitting systems, work order systems, or business intelligence/dashboard platforms is preferred.
- A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver License.
- A college degree is not required. Equivalent combination of certifications, training, and relevant hands-on experience may substitute.
Working Conditions & Supplemental InformationWORKING CONDITIONS- Standard office environment with occasional travel to remote or field locations. Occasionally, may be exposed to wet or humid conditions, high heat, and components of a mechanical and electrical nature.
- Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 45 pounds.
- Prolonged periods working at a computer.
- May require after-hours or weekend work, particularly during emergencies or critical system maintenance.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATIONSuccessful completion of an employment physical and drug screen to confirm the ability to perform the essential functions of the job (waived for promoted or transferred Town employees who have previously met this requirement); signed Acknowledgement for the attached “Drug Free Workplace Policy” must be provided prior to assuming Town duties.

Hepatitis B vaccination, proof of same, or signed Acknowledgement declining the vaccination (see attached Information to Employees - Hepatitis B) must be provided prior to assuming Town duties.
