POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Services Department's Building Services Division seeks a Chief Plumbing Inspector.

The Chief Plumbing Inspector provides supervision to inspectors in the enforcement and interpretation of building codes and regulations related to the plumbing discipline, and directly supervises Plumbing Inspectors, Senior Plumbing Inspectors, and Plumbing Plans Examiners.

This is a classified position covered by the Personnel Rules. This is a Management Category II Position which includes eight (8) additional Management Vacation Days and a Vehicle Allowance of $340/month.

JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be certified as required by the State of Florida, Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB), as a Plumbing Plans Examiner and as a Plumbing Inspector, andMust have eight (8) years of combined experience as a Master Plumber, Plumbing Contractor, or Journeyman Plumber, five (5) years of which shall have been construction experience in the Plumbing discipline A minimum of one (1) year as a Plumbing Plans Examiner employed by a municipality or private company contracted with a municipality or School Board within the State of FloridaA minimum two (2) years as a Plumbing Inspector employed by a municipality or private company contracted with a municipality or School Board within the State of FloridaMust possess a current Certificate of Competency as a Master Plumber or Plumbing Contractor issued by at least one of the following entities:Possess or be able to obtain a State of Florida driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hireIf claiming Veteran's Preference, you must attach a copy of the DD214 Member 4 Form (or other supporting claim documents) to your online application.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The position involves medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
