Position DescriptionProvides general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to answering incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate associates, welcoming visitors, mail distribution, flow of correspondence, requisition of supplies as well as additional clerical duties. Work is performed under close supervision within established policies and procedures with job performance based upon tasks completed.
Major/Essential Functions- Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and relay messages to the appropriate nurse.
- Accurately enter and update patient demographics to ensure clean insurance claim submissions.
- Respond quickly to patient and insurance company inquiries, including prior authorizations and referrals.
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain required authorizations before scheduling appointments.
- Make outgoing calls to patients for appointment reminders, rescheduling, and general clinic communication.
- Document all communications in EMR.
- Handle daily cash transactions, including accepting payments and performing end-of-day cash counts.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and other correspondence. Prepare and process outgoing correspondence and other administrative documents.
- Provide general clerical support, including filing, copying, scanning, data entry, and document preparation.
- Assist with additional administrative duties and special projects as assigned to support clinic operations.
- Attend and actively participate in monthly departmental meetings.
- Maintain current knowledge of department and HSC policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in a related area. Additional job related education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis.
