Zoning Technician (Enforcement)

Description

This position performs land use permit application review and inspection work to assist in providing uniform enforcement for county codes; and investigates potential land use violations.

Administers and enforces Shore land Zoning, Comprehensive Zoning and Floodplain Zoning , Reviews and issues land use permits that conform to the appropriate regulations and provides technical advice to applicants when applications do not conform to the regulations. Conducts onsite inspections at the time of construction verifying compliance with setback requirements.Conducts Ordinary High-Water Mark (OHWM) determinations for the purpose of establishing setbacks from navigable bodies of water.Receives reports or complaints of potential ordinance violations; inspects alleged violation sites; documents conditions observed; judges if conditions are in compliance with applicable ordinances; Serves as a resource and educator for property owners, prospective buyers, contractors, etc. on the Land Use Ordinance. Provides technical assistance and explains and interprets codes, ordinances, and regulations for contractors, owners and the general public.Enters permit information into permit tracking computer software.Maintains accurate records and prepare reports as necessary.Review the land use ordinance and provides recommendations for amendments as necessary.Provide general field work assistance to the County Surveyor as assigned.Assists with the mapping of Barron County recreational trail system as assigned.Other duties as assigned.
