Yuba College (YC) is seeking an equity-minded, dynamic, collaborative, and results-oriented leader to serve as Vice President of Student Services.
OVERVIEW : At Yuba College, the Vice President of Student Services holds a pivotal role in shaping an educational environment that champions student success and equity. The Vice President of Student Services is responsible for developing and overseeing quality, innovative student services and programs that are responsive to the diverse needs of our student body and the demands of a rapidly changing world. The Vice President of Student Services is crucial in creating a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment that facilitates student engagement, learning, and success from entry to graduation. BASIC FUNCTION :The Vice President of Student Services will report directly to the President of Yuba College. The Vice President of Student Services plays a pivotal role in enhancing the student experience, promoting student success, and ensuring institutional practices meet the diverse needs of all students. This leadership position spearheads a team of dedicated professionals, all committed to delivering student services that are equitable, impactful, and attuned to the needs of a diverse student population. A core responsibility is guiding the availability and accessibility of student services across all locations, including evenings and summer sessions, and extending these services across the college’s campuses in Yuba and Sutter Counties. Central to their role is a commitment to equity; by infusing student services with an equity-minded approach, they champion an atmosphere of inclusivity and forward-thinking innovation. Additionally, they work closely with the Vice President of Instruction and other staff to develop and assess student- centered processes aimed at improving student engagement, retention, and success. As a member of the College leadership team, and in cooperation with the team of vice presidents and deans, the Vice President of Student Services works closely with the College President to meet its mission and support the comprehensive success of the College and its two sites.
The Vice President of Student Services functions as general administrator of Student Services at the main campus and two centers. These functions include but are not limited to the following:
a) Admissions, Records, Outreach, and Registration
b) Counseling, Matriculation, and Articulation
c) Student Life Programs
d) Financial Aid and Scholarships
e) Categorical Student Services Programs, such as: Department of Supportive Programs and Services ( DSP &S), Extended Opportunity Programs & Services ( EOP &S), California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), TRiO, Veteran’s Center and other programs as developed.
f) Student Development
g) Career Services Center, Student Employment, and College Service/Internships
h) Health Services
i) Outreach and Transfer Services
j) Student Equity and Achievement Plan ( SEAP )
Essential Duties Summary
ESSENTIAL DEMONSTRATED LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS : - Student Access and Success: The Vice President of Student Services will have a deep commitment to student access and success, for both prospective and current students.
- Results-oriented and Data-informed Leadership: The Vice President of Student Services will be committed to identifying gaps in student outcomes based on factors such as socio-economic, race, ethnicity, language, ability, academic skills, and gender, and mobilize the campuses through a culture of inquiry and evidence to improve results.
- Team Building: The Vice President of Student Services will foster among faculty and staff a culture of collaboration, innovation, and effective implementation towards common YC goals of improving student access and success.
- Establishes a Sense of Urgency: The Vice President of Student Services will work to establish and maintain among leaders, faculty and staff a healthy sense of urgency to improve student access and success.
- Plans for Lasting Change: The Vice President of Student Services will have the ability to plan for change in ways that ensure broad buy-in and actions that significantly improve student access and success.
- Effective Communicator: The Vice President of Student Services will effectively engage with the College’s internal and external stakeholders, strategically communicating in ways that advance student access and success.
- Financial and Operational Ability: The Vice President of Student Services will align resources and expenditures to achieve significantly improved results in student outcomes, implementing well-designed institutional changes at scale, and ensuring they are embedded for the long term.
- Community Engagement and Outreach: The Vice President of Student Services will use the institution’s influence and resources to pave the way for ongoing student access and success by forging partnerships with outside entities, including but not limited to TK-12 school districts, four-year colleges, state-wide agencies, community-based organizations, and employers.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :The minimum qualifications for service as an educational administrator shall be both of the following:
(a) Possession of a master’s degree;
AND Three years of supervisory leadership experience related to the administrator’s essential duties and assignment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS : - Three (3) to five (5) years of successful public higher education administrative experience in Student Services, including concurrently managing multiple student support programs/units.
- Direct managerial responsibility and functional understanding of the interrelated areas of oversight for this position: Admissions & Records; Outreach; Counseling; DSPS ; EOPS / CARE ; CalWORKS; TRiO; Financial Aid; Student Conduct; Student Success & Retention; and Transfer & Career Programs.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and a demonstrated commitment to building equity focused practices into student support programs and working in a culturally diverse workplace, including with Spanish speaking populations.
- Earned doctorate degree from accredited institution.
- Knowledge of California Education Code and Title V
- Knowledge of working with HSI (Hispanic Serving Institutions) colleges
- Collegiality and collaboration with diverse constituencies, both internal and external
- Effective communication, both orally and in writing
- Strong and articulate proponent of higher education
- Experience working in a participatory governance environment
- Strong management and operations skills

Range/Step Range 45, Management Salary Schedule Salary Range $155,464 - $189,447/Annually (Step 1- 9). Placement will be based on both the candidate's years of related experience and educational qualifications. Benefits Information
