The Deputy Clerk III performs a variety of secretarial, administrative, and technical duties for the department of assignment.

Examples of Duties

Answers telephone and greet visitors; provides information or refers inquiries to appropriate personnel; routes incoming calls and records messages; responds to emails and faxes as necessary.

Utilizes computerized data entry equipment and various word processing and file maintenance programs to enter, store, and/or retrieve information; maintains pertinent files and records; scans and copies documents as necessary; ensures files are complete and accurate.

Processes incoming and outgoing mail, including preparing photocopies and collating materials; distributes mail to appropriate department or employee.

Prepares periodic activity statistical summary and financial reports.

Assists and provides information to judges, attorneys, title companies, and the general public regarding inquiries and questions.

Certifies and issues copies of legal documents.

Supervises support staff for the department; trains employees as necessary.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

Processes all cash and surety bonds, independently verifying information and sufficiency for court; creates spreadsheets to ensure money is received; receives the actual cash from the bonds and processes appropriately.

Issues all writs and abstracts, determining appropriate action steps to be taken with final paperwork; approves related bonds as necessary.

Enters all court orders; evaluate orders and chooses next appropriate; responds to orders in a timely manner.

Receives payments and issues receipts; logs payments in appropriate files and places money in cash drawers; determines which account to post money to; issues refunds and determines appropriate account settlement; recalculates fee schedules for courts; prepares cash drawers from the safe daily.

Recalls all warrants based upon satisfaction of terms.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and a minimum two years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Completion of some college level course work preferred.

Specific certifications related to the area of assignment may be required for this position.

The primary location for this position will be in Denton, Texas. At times this position may require some travel to other satellite locations.
