Position DescriptionThe Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Amarillo is a tight-knit community of physicians with a big mission to train confident and compassionate pediatricians who deliver evidence-based and family-centered care for a diverse pediatric population in an open learning environment. Our community of pediatricians, both generalists and specialists, provide one-on-one guidance to our residents providing unique educational opportunities for them. The residents receive multiple exposures to procedures and inpatient/outpatient experiences that enhance their clinical acumen.
Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate's qualifications and experience.Major/Essential Functions- Examines patient, performs a comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
- Orders and interprets labs, and diagnostic tests, such as X-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory test results for deviations from normal.
- Prescribes medication. Manages the health/illness status of patients and families over time.
- Instructs and counsels patients, and family members as appropriate, regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
- Provide supervision, mentoring and teaching to residents and students.
Occasional Duties
Required Qualifications- MD, DO or Foreign Equivalent degree.
- Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3 or in the process of completing an ACGME Accredited Pediatric Residency.
- Board certified, board eligible, or in the process of becoming board eligible in General Pediatrics with the expectation that one would maintain certification.
