Position Description
The Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Amarillo is a tight-knit community of physicians with a big mission to train confident and compassionate pediatricians who deliver evidence-based and family-centered care for a diverse pediatric population in an open learning environment. Our community of pediatricians, both generalists and specialists, provide one-on-one guidance to our residents providing unique educational opportunities for them. The residents receive multiple exposures to procedures and inpatient/outpatient experiences that enhance their clinical acumen.
Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate's qualifications and experience.

Major/Essential Functions

Examines patient, performs a comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
Orders and interprets labs, and diagnostic tests, such as X-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory test results for deviations from normal.
Prescribes medication. Manages the health/illness status of patients and families over time.
Instructs and counsels patients, and family members as appropriate, regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
Provide supervision, mentoring and teaching to residents and students.

Occasional Duties

Required Qualifications

MD, DO or Foreign Equivalent degree.
Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3 or in the process of completing an ACGME Accredited Pediatric Residency.
Board certified, board eligible, or in the process of becoming board eligible in General Pediatrics with the expectation that one would maintain certification.
