Principal Engineer & Associate Engineer (Water Resources and Planning)

$157,007 - $196,258 Annually (Principal) $116,421 - $145,526 Annually (Associate)

The Water Resources and Planning division oversees the water resource planning, groundwater sustainability initiatives, and capital investments that support reliable service and long-term resiliency. Through collaboration with regional partners, and as a member agency of The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the Raymond Basin Management Board, Water Resources and Planning provides to secure and manage Pasadena’s water future while ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and advancing innovative solutions for sustainable water management.

Capital Projects Manager & Engineer (Water Facilities)

The Water Facilities section is responsible for planning, designing, constructing, and managing Pasadena Water and Power's critical water infrastructure, including groundwater wells, booster stations, reservoirs, treatment plants, and other essential facilities. Focused on replacing aging infrastructure and enhancing system reliability, the section delivers complex capital improvement projects that support the City's long-term water service goals. Working closely with consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and City departments, the section oversees projects from design and permitting through construction and project closeout. The team plays a vital role in maintaining a reliable and resilient water system while delivering highly visible infrastructure investments.

The Water Distribution section serves as Pasadena Water and Power’s frontline connection to the community, overseeing the infrastructure that delivers safe and reliable drinking water. The section manages water distribution facilities, service installations, hydraulic system planning, and capital improvement projects while working closely with customers, contractors, consultants, and internal operations teams. As one of the most visible and collaborative groups, the Water Distribution section plays a vital role in maintaining system reliability and supporting Pasadena’s long-term water infrastructure goals.
