ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Elections Department is seeking qualified candidates for the Voting Machine Technician position. As a member of our warehouse team, you will test all voting machines using electronic testing equipment and following standard testing procedures to identify potential issues requiring repair on a regular schedule to ensure proper voting equipment operation.

Candidates must be available for mandatory overtime at little to no notice during key phases of the election cycle, including weekends and holidays.

THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 250 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from high school AND two (2) years of full-time experience in performing skilled mechanical and/or equipment maintenance. Four (4) election periods (any combination of primary or general election support periods) with warehouse experience prepping, programming, and repairing voting equipment to be used in an official election may be substituted for the two (2) full years of experience. Election warehouse support is desirable.

All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Working Conditions: Work extended hours or emergency overtime during election periods.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical office or warehouse setting, use standard office equipment and basic hand and power tools, and to drive a motor vehicle in order to deliver materials and repair equipment; strength to lift boxes of materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds and to maneuver equipment weighing in excess of 200 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
