Description

The City of Foster City is seeking an experienced Code Enforcement Officer II to join the Community Development Department! This journey‑level position performs a full range of technical office and field work related to public education and enforcement of City codes and ordinances and assists in processing and presenting related notices, reports and public hearing documents. Employees in this classification operate with a high level of independence and may provide technical and functional guidance to lower-level staff.

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education :AA degree from an accredited college; BA degree desirable.

Experience :Two years of responsible experience performing duties comparable to those of a
Code Enforcement Officer I
in the City of Foster City.

Licenses, Certificates, Registration

Special Requirements
Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment: Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, twist, climb, and lift 25 pounds; exposure to cold, heat, outdoors, confining work space, electrical hazards, vibration, chemicals, dust and mechanical hazards.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview (weighted 80%) and a written exercise (weighted 20%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner.

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The CDD will make the hiring decision.

Expected Dates for Examinations (subject to change):
Oral Panel Interview: November TBD (exact date TBD)
Department Interview: November TBD (exact date TBD)

Note: Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee that a candidate will be invited to participate in the selection process. The City of Foster City reserves the right, at its discretion, to limit the number of qualified candidates invited to the selection process.
