*Subject to Change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Houston Health Department is currently searching for an energetic and skilled candidate to fill the Customer Service Representative I position to perform the following duties:
Research, analyzes, and resolves standard customer concerns and inquiriesvia various forms of communication i.e. phone, email, site visits, etc.Provides information on City programs and guidelines. Educates the public on various initiatives and/or programs.Screens immunization records for up-to-date status.Conducts data entry into multiple databases including ImmTrac2 to ensure up-to-date shot records.Provides and documents service linkage that connects client families to internal and external service resources.Gathers and collects information to generate reports, activity logs, etc.May act as a backup to a customer service section and/or administrative support services.Conducts community projects, presentations and other outreach activities to educate clients and families on the benefits of the Project Milestone program and the importance of immunizations.Other duties, as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or light lifting of materials of up to 10 pounds. There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or a GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Six (6) months of administrative or customer service related experience is required. Associate's degree may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS None.
PREFERENCES**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**

SALARY INFORMATION Grant Funded Position
Grants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred.Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
