Pay Range: $16.12-24.58 per hour

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

• Stimulate interest in and direct a variety of competitive and non-competitive activities as directed.
• Stimulate interest in recreational sciences through the presentation of designed programs as directed.
• Issue and collect playground and camp equipment such as nets, balls, bats, gloves, and horseshoes; inspect equipment and recommend repairs as necessary.
• Assist in coordinating group activities designed to teach recreational and nature sciences.
• Assist in the administration of a major playground and planned activities.
• Assist as an advisor, coach, or instructor for community groups participating in sports activities; assist with organizing and directing tournaments or special programs featuring a particular sporting activity.
• Maintain records of work activities and daily participation.
• Care for wildlife and associated exhibits at the Nature Center.
• Assist with groundskeeping.
• Patrol and observe swimming pool areas; prevent ball playing, tag games, fighting, and other infractions of pool rules.
• Perform related work as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRES

• At least 16 years of age.
• May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
