ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Public Works Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Traffic Safety Coordinator position. The position reviews traffic control plans for compliance with all laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will be a part of the offsite inspection unit in the Development Review Division.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND any combination of two (2) years of full-time experience developing and/or reviewing traffic control plans or in performing road or highway construction/maintenance work.

All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work out of doors in all weather conditions. Work with exposure to heavy traffic.

Licensing and Certification: Some positions may require possession of a valid Nevada CDL Class C driver's license. Some positions may require obtaining a supervisor level ATSSA certification within qualifying or probationary period.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination and may be subject to random drug testing in accordance with DOT requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Strength and mobility to work in a typical field maintenance setting, including operating hand and power tools and driving a motor vehicle to work sites; stamina to perform sustained physical labor; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone.
