Position Description Serve as a liaison between insurance and health care providers to ensure the timely coordination, and accurate processing, of patient referrals required for medical specialty visits.
Major/Essential Functions - Tracking and documentation of patients referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety.
- Assemble patient demographics, insurance/payer adn health data.
- Insurance/payer prior authorization.
- Provide patient and family communication, navigation, and advocacy through the referral process.
- Establish and maintain communication and relationships with identified service providers and community services.
- Update patient records with demographics, insurance and information on specialist consults, hospitalizations, ER visits and community organizations related to thier health.
Required Qualifications - Associate degree plus one (1) year of experience directly related to the processing of patient referrals;
- OR High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years of experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant;
- OR High school diploma or GED plus five (5) years of experience directly related to patient registration, patient scheduling, patient billing/collections, the processing of prior authorizations, and/or the processing of patient referrals.
