Position Description Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Permian Basin Department of Surgery. Our program is rooted in a rigorous, evidence-based educational environment that emphasizes clinical excellence, surgical proficiency, and continuous professional development. Located in the heart of the Permian Basin-the nation's largest petroleum-producing region and one of its fastest-growing populations-our department plays a vital role in expanding and strengthening the surgical workforce to meet the urgent healthcare needs of this underserved area. Our mission is to train surgeons who are equipped to serve diverse communities with empathy, cultural competence, and clinical excellence in the Permian Basin or any other community.
The Pediatric Surgeon will provide 24 weeks of call per year at one of our community hospitals, a Level III Trauma Center & Level III Neonatal ICU. Supported with 24/7 pediatric intensivist coverage.

Major/Essential Functions - Diagnose, treat and perform surgical operations on infants, children, adolescents and young adults.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient care of surgical patients with office visits, surgical consults and procedures.
- Collaborate with additional healthcare providers, departments and community partners.
- Complete medical records accurately and completely in a timely manner.
- Participate in the training of medical students and residents.
Occasional Duties
Required Qualifications - MD/DO or equivalent.
- Completion of an ACGME accredited General Surgery Residency.
- Completion of, or in the process of completing, an ACGME accredited Pediatric Surgery Fellowship.
- Ability to obtain a TX medical license.
- Foreign Medical Graduates Only: ECFMG Certification OR Equivalency Certification.
