Minimum Qualifications Required: - Associate's Degree in Business, Animal Care or a related field
- Three (3) years of experience in a related setting;
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License
Licenses and Certifications:- Basic Animal Control certification is required within one year of hire date
- Euthanasia Technician certification from Texas Academy of Animal Control Officers (TAACO) is required within 120 days of hire date
Preferred :- One year of supervisory experience
Position Overview Under basic supervision, provides experiential care, supervises the daily operations of the City of Waco animal shelter; assures animal shelter operations are in compliance with state laws and City policies and procedures.
Position Responsibilities - Supervises the daily operations of the animal shelter; resolves problems within scope of authority.
- Inspects kennels in order to verify the health of animals, prevent spread of disease and comply with government regulations; monitors facilities to assure proper maintenance procedures are followed.
- Supervises staff; assigns tasks and projects; trains and evaluates staff; develops staff skills and conducts performance evaluations; meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues.
- May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
- Ensure shelter is cleaned daily including feeding, watering, and grooming.
