ABOUT THE POSITION

We are searching for Mental Health Registered Nurses (RN) interested in positions who have previous experience working in a mental health setting. There are currently two (2) temporary (extra-hire) positions. The RN will function as the registered nurse on duty at the Marin County Crisis Stabilization Unit, which is on the campus of Marin Health. In this role the nurse will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including crisis specialists and a psychiatrist. The nurse will also work in cooperation with community partners. The nurse will perform nursing assessments and screen for urgent or emergent medical issues to determine appropriate level of treatment based on assessment findings. The nurse will administer medication, including I.M. medication, and will monitor for efficacy as well as adverse effects. The RN will participate in the application of physical restraints as required and will make use of crisis intervention skills and utilize management of assaultive behavioral techniques.

WORK SCHEDULE (Subject to change):
Contingent (Temporary/extra-hire) Registered Nurse schedules vary depending on the Crisis Stabilization Unit’s coverage needs. Nurses needed for all shifts. Some weekends may be required.

ABOUT YOU

Our Highly Qualified Candidate:

The ideal candidate has prior work experience in an acute Behavioral Health Unit/setting as an RN working with a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate will have strong nursing assessment skills and be comfortable screening for medical and substance abuse issues with somewhat limited supervision. The candidate must be comfortable administering P.O. and I.M. medication, and be familiar with effects of medication, especially psychotropic medications.

One year of professional nursing experience OR successful completion of a 6 month mental health preceptorship. This experience must be in a mental health setting appropriate to the assignment.
