The Distribution Electrician Supervisor ( DES ) position oversees personnel performing overhead and underground distribution construction, maintenance, and restoration activities. This position also oversees the Calibration Lab for Field Operations as well as personnel performing SCADA commissioning and maintenance associated with the Distribution Smart Grid Operations Team. The ideal candidate will have: experience working as a Distribution Electrician, managing multiple distribution projects, and safely providing oversight during normal day and restoration periods; experience working with or within Work Management systems and Asset Management programs while providing project updates and completion timelines; the ability to present analytical data and communicate project scope and performance-based reporting to Management. This position will require the employee to perform site visits to meet with project coordinators and perform crew audits. This position will be required to Manage Schedules, and financial activities. This position is considered essential and will also be responsible for leading crews on mutual aid deployments.

Commercial Driver License:
This position requires a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver License or the ability to acquire one within 120 days of employment. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Work Schedule:
This position is categorized as Essential Personnel with the City of Austin. Essential staff are required to work during emergencies or bad weather if they are scheduled to work and, in some cases, when they are not scheduled. Essential employees ensure the continuance of key operations for the City of Austin. Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekends.
Shifts may change according to departmental needs. Employee may be required to work additional hours outside of regular work schedule.

Assigns, organizes, and monitors task completion for work group. Interprets, explains and enforces City policies, procedures, building codes, specifications and ordinances. Communicates with schedulers regarding work orders. Monitors safety issues for work group. Operates line work tools and equipment. Performs repair, installation, maintenance or removal of electric utility facilities and equipment as required. Performs emergency electric system restoration as necessary.
