Plans/develops/implements/assesses career and technical education programs in a state facility of adult offenders; plans and participates in curriculum development; coordinates career and technical education programs to ensure consistency with other facilities and compliance with industry standards; evaluates packaged programs and makes recommendations regarding their appropriateness

Coordinates and collaborates with the United States Department of Labor and other career and technical certifying agencies; provides research/documentation/knowledge to education supervisors

Conducts staff meetings; organizes in-service training; supervises/trains/evaluates teaching staff; evaluates performance/appearance/cooperation of teachers and offenders; reviews and analyzed instructors’ records and reports

Participates in recruitment and selection of career and technical teaching staff; assesses career and technical education needs of the assigned facility; maintains information on employment trends to provide accurate career exploration and counseling information to students

Administers/reviews/approves student applications for enrollment in career and technical education programs

Provides administrative support and advises management regarding educational programs; participates on committees and task forces; coordinates career and technical education activities with other facility programs; develops annual budget requests for individual career and technical programs; procures instructional equipment

Minimum Qualifications:

Eight or more years of professional experience as a supervisor or administrator of adult or secondary-level educational programs; teacher at the high school level or above; career and technical teacher; and/or trainer in a business/industrial/governmental/military setting

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year - a minimum of four years of experience is required)

Special Requirement:

The prospective candidate must have the ability to obtain (at the time of employment or no later than the end of the first year of employment) certification as an Adult Education Supervisor or Career Education Director issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

Some positions are eligible for a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly, which is provided to employees with shifts that begin on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am, and who work at a 24/7 worksite (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center), or whose work requires regular visits to these locations. If selected for interview, eligibility may be discussed at that time with the hiring manager.

The Department of Corrections is the only State agency that currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of service up to 20 years!

Salary:
