Job Description and DutiesUnder the close supervision of the Staff Services Manager I and in a learner capacity, the Student Assistant will become knowledgeable about the Department’s hiring procedures, operations, and policies, as well as the California Justice Information Services Division’s mission. The Student Assistant will provide operational and technical support to the Personnel Services Section, by assisting with the recruitment process and creating and maintaining critical unit files. In addition, the Student Assistant will assist with reviewing and editing written materials, ensuring compliance and conformance to Human Resources protocols and procedures, as well as, to Department and Division polices.

Working ConditionsThis position is eligible for telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office 2 days a week and as needed/required. A teleworker is considered Remote-centered if they work fifty percent or more of their time from an alternate work location. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

Department InformationThis position is located in the California Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division, CJIS Executive Office, CJIS Operations Support Program, Personnel Services Section.
