View the full recruitment brochure: Transportation and Mobility Planning Manager OVERVIEWTHIS TRANSPORTATION AND MOBILITY PLANNING MANAGER will lead the day-to-day
efforts on citywide mobility initiatives and closely collaborate and coordinate with other
departments to push these exciting projects forward. Reporting to the Chief Transportation Officer, this Planning Manager will oversee five dedicated transportation planners while managing several critical mobility initiatives. This knowledgeable leader will effectively use their planning, mobility, and traffic engineering knowledge to progress the department’s efforts while engaging the community. An essential part of this role is relaying complex information to key stakeholders, including department heads and community members, in easy-to-understand terms. This Planning Manager will work hard to meet deadlines and implement initiatives such as MOVE Culver City, the Transportation Demand Management program, the Comprehensive Mobility Services Plan, and additional efforts as seen here in the Short Range Mobility Plan. They will effectively coordinate with other divisions, departments, jurisdictions, and regional entities to advance the City’s mobility vision.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATETHE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE AN EXPERIENCED URBAN PLANNER with a foundational understanding of transit planning, and transportation planning and engineering. They will be an involved leader well versed in budget management, legislation, and project management. They will excel in balancing both short-term operational service planning and long-term strategic and capital planning. With strong communication skills, they will be able to effectively communicate and engage with internal and external audiences, including community members, other local jurisdictions, and the Board. They will excel at cultivating strong, enduring relationships. Other core strengths will include creative thinking, innovation, flexibility, strong problem solving, political savviness, and strong presentation skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban or transportation planning or related field, preferably supplemented by course work or certification in traffic engineering.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional level experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation program management, and/or transportation project development/management, including two years of supervisory experience.
- Desired: Master’s degree in a related field.
Salary and Benefits: This position will receive an annual salary of $135,983 - $165,981 DOE/DOQ, PLUS an attractive benefits package that includes
