Full-time position available with the Public Works Department, Street Preservation Division located at 4721 Coal Mine Road
Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Supervises and manages construction projects for Public Works.
- Focuses on neighborhood sidewalks and traffic calming.
- Makes periodic studies and reviews of crew complements related to various repairs.
- Assigns general maintenance responsibilities or specific work projects to subordinate supervisors.
- Confers with and advises subordinates on problems encountered in repair, and maintenance.
- Reviews work for adherence to instructions and departmental and divisional policies and standards of operation.
- Reviews and approves material lists.
- Prepares preliminary budget estimates based on field inspections, data from records, and knowledge requirements from past operations.
- Develops standard operating procedures for all maintenance and repair jobs.
- Schedules contractor's work.
- Oversees and troubleshoots problems that arise during construction.
- Performs related work as required.
- Sets up and operates training courses where necessary and generally inspects work in process and upon completion.
- Work is reviewed through discussions and written reports by a technical or professional superior and the extent to which existing sidewalks and traffic calming are efficiently and adequately maintained.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 5 years experience of a progressively responsible nature in the construction or maintenance of public works programs, including 1 year at the level of General Supervisor; OR an accredited Associate's degree in engineering or a related field, and 3 years engineering of public works maintenance and construction work of a progressively responsible nature, including 1 year at the level of General Supervisor.
Preference given to those with 2 years of supervisory experience in the area of construction of sidewalks and/or traffic calming or previous experience with E-Builders. Other Information

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
