Description

Job Summary:

Under immediate supervision, apply a general knowledge of payroll and personnel transactions and perform the full range of standardized payroll and personnel transactions for specific actions, categories of employees or campus departments.

Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, apply a general knowledge of payroll and personnel transactions and perform the full range of standardized payroll and personnel transactions for specific actions, categories of employees or campus departments.
• Review, audit, reconcile, and correct personal data information.
• Process pay for new hires, rehires, additional employment, special consultant, summer session, students.
• Update/issue pay due to promotions, reassignment, reclassifications, leaves, increases due to California Bargaining Unit (CBU).
• Utilize established policies and procedures to determine retirement membership status.
• Work with Faculty Affairs and Development (FAD) and college departments to insure proper processing of temporary faculty contracts
and tenure-track appointments.
• Document, analyze, generate, and reconcile pay for hourly, final settlements, academic adjustments, overtime (OT), shift differential,
stipends, excess hours, and miscellaneous per the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and CBU agreements.
• Perform data entry for student hires into Personal Information Management Systems (PIMS).

• Process and maintain verifications of employment and Employment Development Department (EDD) verification.
• Prepare documents requested for audits (KPMG, State Controller's Office (SCO), etc).
• After the manager approves the time, update and maintain the unit Absence Calendar in Microsoft Outlook. This calendar will be used to verify time off in the Absence Management system.

• Perform other classification related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the director.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

Education: any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Experience: Equivalent to one year of general administrative experience in payroll and human resources recordkeeping and data entry which has provided the above knowledge and abilities.

Required Qualifications

Ability to acquire working knowledge of, and independently select and apply, CSU policies, procedures, programs, guidelines, applicable state and federal laws, educational codes, and collective bargaining agreements.
Ability to, or acquire the skill to, use web browsers, electronic calendaring programs, ERP/HRIS, and data management systems.
Ability to audit and reconcile data; interpret and apply written rules and regulations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; exercise tact, courtesy and good judgment in responding to others; use current computer word processing and spreadsheet software programs; perform mathematical calculations; accurately enter data; follow oral and written instructions; communicate effectively with others; and read and write at a level appropriate to the position.
Working knowledge of general office methods, practices and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in higher education.
Knowledge and/or familiarity with: CSU Oracle/PeopleSoft Finance and HR systems; CSU Payroll and Collective Bargaining Units.
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Attention to detail.
The ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations, organize a high volume of work effectively and meet strict deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits:

Anticipated Hiring Range: up to $3,680 per month.

Classification Salary Range: $3,680 - $5,961 per month.

The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Position Information:

Work status: Full-time/Non-Exempt/Probationary

Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends.

Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.
