Workforce Trauma and Wellness Specialist
Description
The Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) seeks a Workforce Trauma & Wellness Specialist. This position may be domiciled within one of DMH’s regional offices, Jefferson City Central Office, or a DMH facility.
General Summary: The Workforce Trauma & Wellness Specialist will lead a comprehensive trauma and wellness program for their region that aligns with DMH goals and objectives. Organize, schedule, and conduct various trauma and wellness activities and education events. The position will also serve as a resource and assist regions with implementing the Missouri Model Developmental Framework for Trauma Informed Approaches in the workplace.
Responsibilities: - Understand, teach, and demonstrate practices taught in the Missouri Model: Developmental Framework for Trauma Informed Approaches, including trauma informed principles of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.
- Schedule and attend site visits to share resources and best practices across DMH.
- Evaluate and update wellbeing programs.
- Collaborate with existing teams and initiatives focused on workplace trauma and wellbeing including Employee Health Nurses, Employee Relations Committees, Trauma Informed Committees.
- Coordinate, plan and facilitate wellbeing program activities focused on holistic wellbeing such as referenced in DMH’s 8 Dimensions of Workplace Wellness Guide.
- Plan and implement classes, speakers, seminars, training, assessments, etc. that promote trauma informed approaches and healthy lifestyle.
- Organize, schedule, and track training sessions across DMH locations.
- Establish wellness-focused office areas to promote trauma informed workplace culture.
- Develop promotion and publicity plans for trauma informed care and wellbeing throughout the organization.
- Compile statistical summaries of attendance, participant data and outcomes to ensure proper program evaluation.
- Assist with development of budget, policies, and procedures relevant to operation of a wellbeing program.
- Serve as a CISM Peer or Peer Lead

- Public speaking - Speak to small and large groups and communicate effectively in written and verbal form, in person and through virtual platforms.
- Project management and planning - Identify, set, track and update project goals from start to finish.
- Technology skills - Learn and perform tasks through electronic and virtual-based platforms to reach workforce across the region/state.
- Travel to facilities/locations - 65% travel is required with required weekly visits to locations within assigned region. Some overnight travel to facilities, programs and regional offices throughout the state will be required for in-person meetings, trainings, and events.
- Ability to move light objects weighing less than 30 lbs. short distances.
Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 hours of earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Health Professions, Psychology/Counseling, Social Work, Education, Business or Public Administration, the social sciences, or a closely related field AND three or more years of related experience.
