Description

Job Summary

The incumbent provides professional services in psychiatry including psychiatric assessment, consultation, medication management, and referrals to CSULB students.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to provide psychiatric services (clinical assessment, medication evaluation, crisis intervention, and psychiatric hospitalization). Demonstrated effective and safe medication management knowledge and protocols. Possess strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to be professional and respectful. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to make effective presentations, facilitate an open exchange of ideas, and write clear, concise notes, documents, and reports. Working knowledge of standard safe work practices.

Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate with others. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team. Ability to collaborate in a multi-discipline mental health environment. Oral communication skills to communicate diplomatically and effectively with students, departmental staff, and CSU faculty/staff. Education and Experience

Graduation from a medical school and completion of one or more residency programs and/or fellowships accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or equivalent in a specialty appropriate to their assigned specialty duties.

Physical Summary



Licenses / Certificates

• Valid and relevant State of California license to practice medicine; current medical board certification appropriate for the assigned duties; valid DEA certificate and number for prescribing controlled substances; and current CPR/AED certification required.

• Current and valid Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry before commencement of the position.

• CA Driver's License preferred.

Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

Compensation

The salary range for this classification is $83.19 to $161.90 per hour.

Time Base

Hourly/intermittent on call temporary position. Successful candidates may be appointed for a few days and up to one (1) year depending on the assignment. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Additional Information

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
