Position DescriptionPerforms semi-professional work on various projects and programs. Work is performed under supervision within established policies with latitude for independent judgment. Employee performance is based upon a review of completed work and overall results obtained. May supervise specialized clerical section.
Major/Essential Functions- Processes health insurance eligibility for patients scheduling with the clinic prior to their appointments.
- Troubleshoots and resolves general patient account issues as required
- Navigates and educates patients on insurance plans and processes for visit authorizations and referrals for care
- Works with phones, computer systems, printers, faxes, and other office equipment
- Assists patients with applications and forms and with questions on their accounts.
- Maintains account activity data for daily reports for the business office.
- Files insurance claims for patients who request this service.
- Assists patients with problems with insurance companies and filing procedures.
- Follows up on claims submitted to insurance companies.
- Notes denial of insurance claim and reason on patient accounts.
- Sends itemized statements to patients, employers or insurance companies as requested.
- Performs other work as required.
Required QualificationsHigh school plus 4 years experience. Additional education may substitute on a year for year basis.
