Job Summary The City of Bryan offers a quality internship opportunity to students seeking practical experience in the field of municipal recreation management. The internship provides a comprehensive experience of recreation activities within the department including administration, programming, special events, and marketing. Essential Job Functions
Assists in planning and organizing recreation programs, activities, and events for a variety of ages. Participates in set-up, implementation, and clean-up as needed.
Assists with marketing (social media, radio, newspaper, television, flyers, brochures, presentations, displays, etc.) for the Parks & Recreation programs, activities, and events.
Assists with making phone calls and sending emails regarding programming.
Interacts and communicates with a variety of groups and individuals including department and City staff, community groups, volunteers, and the general public.
Provides guidance on registration procedures events, and activities.
Provides administrative support such as preparing and/or submitting reports and other documents that are programmatic and administrative (for example: activity reports, program proposals, registration forms, etc.), performing research, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining databases and records, and assisting with general document creation/data entry.
Attends training, orientations, and other staff meetings as scheduled.
Adheres to the policies, rules, regulations, and procedures of the City of Bryan and the Parks and Recreation Department.
Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Performs special projects and other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications Must be a current college student at a Junior or higher classification-level seeking a degree in Parks & Recreation, Sports Management, Marketing, Event Planning, or a similar field of study. Other fields of study may be considered if you possess previous recreation programming experience.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
