Lead Landscape Maintenance Technician
Description
Your Impact- Oversee contractor and staff schedules and performance related to park and athletic field landscape maintenance.
- Perform tree inspections.
- Conduct Integrated Pest Management (IPM) inspections.
- Program irrigation controllers.
- Provide guidance and technical support to staff.
- Respond to internal and external customer service requests and resolve issues.

Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent with technical training in landscape maintenance, water management, and or contract management.
- Five years of landscape maintenance experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- A valid California driver's license for this position is required.
- Landscape Irrigation Certificate, International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certificate and/or Orange County Backflow Prevention license may be required.
- Class A or B California driver's license may be required.
Best Fit- Bachelor's of Science in plant science or related field.
- Strong knowledge of CalSense and water management.
- Certified Arborist license through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is preferred.
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
- Excel at identifying plant species, pests, and diseases.
- Demonstrate leadership to direct staff and contractors.
- Supervisory experience desirable.
- Experience with golf course and turf management.

The Public Works & Sustainability Department combines the strengths of Administration & Planning, Park Development, Transportation Planning & Mobility, Infrastructure Maintenance & Operations, Capital Project Delivery, and Sustainability &Environmental Initiatives to create a unified approach to infrastructure management and sustainability. City assets include streetscapes, open space, City parks (community and neighborhood), athletic fields, bike trails, roadways, traffic signals, and more. The Capital Improvement Program has an annual delivery of $100 million in capital projects, in addition to the delivery of the globally relevant Great Park. With over 200 dedicated staff across 5 divisions, we prioritize efficiency, sustainability, and community engagement in all our endeavors. $65,145.60 - $102,398.40 Annually
