Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is announcing an excellent employment opportunity to fill the position of Sheriff's Executive Assistant.

Under general direction, Sheriff's Executive Assistant is responsible for performing administrative and secretarial duties in support of the Office of the Sheriff.

Additional duties include planning, coordinating, and conducting sensitive and/or confidential programs and activities directly related to the Office of the Sheriff; is responsible for work organization and administrative details of the Sheriff's daily activities; and performs related duties as required.

This classification is EXEMPT from the merit system and is not subject to the guidelines set forth in the Personnel Management Regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.

Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or high school proficiency certificate.

Experience: Five (5) years of full time or its equivalent secretarial or administrative support experience for a senior-level executive, elected official or department head at a level equivalent to Secretary-Advanced Level in Contra Costa County classified service.

Substitution: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business or public administration, government, management or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience up to a maximum of two years OR completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units may be substituted for the required experience up to a maximum of one year.

Departmental Interview: Following a review of the applications, a select group of the most qualified candidates will be invited to an interview.

CONVICTION HISTORY

After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances. DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
