The Monterey County Health Department is seeking a candidate with proven executive management experience in providing behavioral health services in California to fill a vacancy for the position of Bureau Chief in the Behavioral Health Bureau and to serve as the Director of Behavioral Health. The Bureau Chief is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, organizing, and evaluating the operations of the Behavioral Health Bureau. This position is At-Will and works under general direction of the Director of Health.

The Behavioral Health Bureau provides a wide range of prevention, diagnostic, treatment, and community services for children, adolescents, and adults with mental illness, substance use disorder, and co-occurring conditions. The Bureau employs 500 FTEs, contracts with a large, community-based provider network (about 100 providers) and manages an annual budget of $167 million.
