A Sr. Code Compliance Officer job is available with The City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Department - Animal Care & Control Division. This position will represent the City of Fort Worth by providing professional, courteous, quality of care for animals at our Alliance PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center. This position functions as lead over Animal Shelter Technicians at the EAC to ensure adoption goals and customer service measures are met.
- This is a Full-Time position, with benefits, working a minimum of 40 hours, subject to mandatory overtime

- This position requires the availability to work weekends, holidays, evening shifts and/or extended hours based on operational needs.
- In order to be considered you complete and pass the City’s Defensive Driving course.
- This position will report to the City of Fort Worth’s Satellite Adoption Center, located at the Alliance PetSmart in Fort Worth.
Minimum Qualifications: - Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Animal Control Officer Basic Certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services within six (6) months of hire.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Euthanasia Certification within four (4) months of hire.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience enforcing municipal ordinances, and code, animal care and control, animal welfare, or related experience depending on assignment.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- HS diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in code enforcement, building codes, zoning regulations or a related field.
- Candidate selected for hire must pass Pre-Employment Drug Screen, Physical and Criminal Background check.
Preferred Qualifications: - 4 years of customer service experience
- 2 years of administrative experience
- 2 years of management or leadership experience
- Proficient use of PetPoint shelter software system
The Sr. Code Compliance Officer job responsibilities include: - Interacting frequently with customers and other stakeholders to facilitate resolution to complaints and violations.
- Providing leadership and training to new and existing staff to ensure use of proper procedures, methods and techniques.
- Maintaining daily, weekly, monthly and annual records.
- Assisting with cleaning to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for the people and animals within the Everyday Adoption Center.
- Monitors and logs all daily animal activity in the adoption facility, assessing each animal for any signs of illness and vaccinating animals as preventative measures.
- Facilitating the adoption process and adoption events by answering questions, searching for desired cat or dog breeds, allowing clients to connect with pet before adoption and recommending services or products in onsite store.
- Performing administrative duties, which may include verifying animal ID numbers in PetPoint, answering phones, providing public information, creating social media content, counting and handling money and directing interoffice paperwork in closeout routine.
- Transferring animals to and from adoption centers.

Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
