The Position

The Department of Conservation and Development (DCD) is seeking to fill one (1) one Lead Weatherization and Home Repair Specialist - Project vacancy. The Lead Weatherization and Home Repair Specialist - Project position will be assigned to the Weatherization Program within DCD.

This position performs assessments of work needed for client housing; and/or conducts post inspections to ensure required work was completed according to program guidelines under the Weatherization Program. This classification reports to and is supervised by the program manager or their designee.

DCD is headed by a Director, and within DCD there are five (5) divisions under a Deputy Director or Assistant Deputy Director: 1) Current Planning; 2) Policy Planning; 3) Building Inspection Services; 4) Business and Information Services, and 5) Housing and Community Improvement. DCD’s main office is located in Martinez. DCD has a total staffing of approximately 165 positions serving the entire County of Contra Costa.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six months.

Minimum Qualifications

License Required: Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator’s license. Out of state valid motor operator’s license will be accepted during the application’s process.

Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent, or high school proficiency certificate.

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or its equivalent work experience performing construction, repairs, insulation, or weatherization of buildings.

Selection Process

CONVICTION HISTORY

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER

All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
