The Transportation and Public Works Department Traffic Management Division is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining the traffic signals, streetlights, school zone flashers and all signal systems for the city. The section is seeking a Crew leader to install, repair and maintain all signal systems.

Candidates should have skills related to training subordinate staff, preparing work schedules, monitoring work quality and efficiency, preparing reports, and participating in policy and procedure discussions. Preference will be given to candidates with an Associate’s Degree in Electronics or a related field. Preference will also be given to candidates with specialized licenses or certifications such as Journeyman Electrical Licenses, Bucket Truck, Derrick Digger, IMSA or other standard industry certifications. Candidates with traffic signal, Signal systems, customer service, and computer software experience, such as Microsoft Office or GIS, are also preferred.

This Signal Systems Crewleader position requires working outside standard business hours and working outdoors as discussed below:

Physical Demands

Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects.
