Description
TPWD MISSION To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Under the direction of the Minor Repair Program Manager, this internship is an opportunity designed for students to obtain relevant work experience to be competitive for future positions in park programs, such as: historic sites and structures, field archeology, curatorial GIS, interpretation/education, outreach, natural or cultural resource management, law enforcement, business development, marketing/promotions, budget management, human resources/volunteer management, training program, project management, administration etc. Responsible for completing a few key projects within the Headquarters Facilities Management Group. This position significantly focuses on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other accessibility regulations. Duties include conducting comprehensive accessibility assessments, implementing physical modifications for ADA compliance, ensuring accessibility in communication, creating staff training on ADA requirements, incorporating accessible technology, and developing accessible programming. Work activities will include the development of process improvement initiatives that might include Sharepoint site development, Excel macro programming and general process development. Ensures compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations, and agency policies and procedures. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.
NOTE:This position will be mainly work with the State Parks Accessibility Specialist addressing issues in State Parks .

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university or recent graduate within the last 6 months.
Minimum of 18 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university at time of application.
Must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale or "Pass" on a Pass/Fail system.
Experience :

Licensure :
Must possess a valid State driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge in general of Texas State Parks.
Knowledg e of relevant State Park program fundamentals as it relates to program specific intern opportunities such as: natural or cultural resources; budget or financial; business, marketing and promotions; human resources and volunteers; interpretation, education, outreach; law enforcement; historical sites and programs; archeoloty; curatorial; web administration; or database development.

Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.
May be required to operate a State vehicle.
Required to travel 25%.
