Description
OverviewThe District Attorney's Office is looking for a new team member to provide responsible legal assistance and technical support to the professional staff in the Intake Unit.
This person will provide support in the areas of preparing and processing legal documentation, researching/exchanging information, and providing confidential and complex administrative support. The position includes a lot of data entry and working with law enforcement agencies to obtain documents for case filings. As a full-time employee, this individual is eligible for all county benefits including paid time off and paid holidays.
Our office is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After a successful probationary period there is a telecommuting option 1 day a week.

- Provides confidential support to professional legal staff. Such assistance and support generally include drafting, preparing, proofreading, and verifying a variety of reports, letters, memoranda, forms, pleadings, motions, releases, affidavits, jury instructions, and subpoenas.
- Receives calls and visitors; responds to general complaints and requests for information as appropriate; conducts necessary research to respond to specific inquiries; interprets basic services, policies, rules, and regulations, and assists in resolving concerns and complaints; routes inquiries appropriately for more complex matters and interpretation issues to the appropriate staff or agency.
- Coordinates legal activities and documents with judicial and/or penal systems, and other appropriate agency parties.
- Schedules screening appointments with professional legal staff; maintains records and files related to the screening process including preparing case files on all new cases, researching prior and pending cases when new cases are filed, and recording cases with the Court as appropriate.
- Uses current technologies to enter, store, and/or retrieve information as required in record management systems.
- Establishes and maintains various complex, tangible files; files, retrieves, stores, tracks, and purges information as required.
- Prepares case files to include creating and obtaining records, exchanging information with the court and related agencies, issuing subpoenas, and copying and distributing information as appropriate.

- One (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Paralegal degree preferred.
- Maintain continuing education hours annually or as required.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification as a Notary Public preferred.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification as a legal assistant preferred.
