Sheriff's Department, Scientific Investigations Division, is recruiting for
Sheriff's Crime Scene Specialists III who are responsible for collecting, documenting, and preserving physical evidence at crime scenes; including fingerprinting, photography, crime scene reconstruction, gunshot trajectories, and bloodstain pattern analysis. This is the journey level of the Sheriff's Crime Scene Specialist series.

DCAP Account - County Paid Life Insurance - AD&D Insurance - 529 Savings Plan - Wellness Program Commuter Services - Employee Discounts CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT 1) Background: Prior to appointment, applicants will be fingerprinted and must pass an extensive background investigation, including a polygraph examination. Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony.
2) Availability: This department is a "24/7" operation. Applicants must be available for
all shifts. Refusal of assigned shift may result in removal from the list or termination. Incumbents will be required to work rotating, night, weekend, day, on-call, and graveyard shifts, as well as holidays, weekends, and mandatory overtime.
3) License: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
4) Physical: Incumbents must be able to climb up and down embankments, and hike short distances over rough terrain, while carrying up to 40 lbs; work in inclement (hot/cold/wet) weather; and be able to work while wearing an Air Purifying Respirator (APR).
5) Medical: Incumbents must pass a yearly medical exam to verify the ability to wear an APR.
6) Training: Under general supervision, incumbents respond to homicides, other major crimes, and collect all forms of evidence from crime scenes.
7) Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum RequirementsExperience: Three (3) years of full-time work experience with a law enforcement agency with primary responsibility for crime scene investigations that includes collecting, documenting, and photographing evidence at crime scenes; latent fingerprint processing; and crime scene reconstruction. Crime scene reconstruction experience includes gunshot trajectories and bloodstain pattern analysis. (All qualifying experience must be obtained in the field at crime scenes.)
