Job Summary/ Objective:
The Deputy Chief of Police (Major) effectively plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates the work of assigned bureaus of the Police Department. Duties are performed with considerable latitude in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and General Orders received from the Chief of Police. May assume command of the department in the absence of the Chief of Police.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervision is exercised over Division Commanders (Captains), Deputy Division Commanders (Lieutenants), Sergeants, Officers, and non-sworn personnel.

Remote Work:
This position is not eligible for out-of-state remote work.

Hiring Salary:
The salary range for this position is $130,827 - $144,600. Starting offer is based on applicable education beyond minimum requirements and internal equity. The position also provides excellent benefits including 12 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, VRS retirement, and continuing education/training opportunities. This is a full time, FLSA exempt position. Internal candidates will receive pay adjustments in accordance with Local Government Personnel Policy, §P-60.
