Hiring Range: $17.50 - $18.43 hourly, depending on qualifications

The Park Maintenance Worker I contributes to the success and upkeep of the City’s park system by performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks to ensure the overall aesthetic appeal of City parks. This position works both individually and alongside other staff responsible for the maintenance of parks and park equipment. In addition to the regular job tasks, this position assists to repair and maintain equipment used in the completion of the job. This position is part of a two-level career progression of Park Maintenance Worker I and II.

Qualifications

Experience : P revious maintenance experience is preferred.

Education: A h igh s chool d iploma or equivalent is required .

Licenses & Certificat ion s : A valid driver’s license and favorable driving record are required .

Environmental and Physical Demands: The Park Maintenance Worker I works outside in a variety of weather and environmental conditions such as heat, cold, wind, sun, rain, and snow. They are exposed to pollen, dust allergens, and other elements. This position r equires the ability to move frequently , maintain a stationary position for periods of time, and to frequently traverse uneven outdoor areas. The Park Maintenance Worker performs physical activities that require considerable use of one's arms and legs moving one's whole body to climb, lift, balance, walk, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl while handling materials. This position f requently ascends or descends stairs and ladders and works at heights; lifts and carries weight independently or with someone else; operates a variety of hand and power tools sometimes while working at heights. D rives or rides from site-to-site multiple times throughout the day and works in distracting situations including high volume traffic areas and city medians.
