Rate of pay depends on qualifications.Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician performs intermediate to advanced level maintenance, repair, modification, service and operation of plants, buildings, and infrastructures. Works as a master craftsperson or a specialist in multiple crafts and trades. This position will be a project lead with limited supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assists in overseeing and instructing employees in proper work methods and safety procedures: advises, guides, and coaches employees.
- Functions as point person in absence of the Foreperson to delegate workload, oversee personnel and coordinate department activities.
- Assists Foreperson on work schedules, ordering of materials and contractual services for maintenance of SAWS facilities.
- Evaluates, designs and fabricates all alterations, installations or repairs of industrial plants, infrastructures and buildings.
- Evaluates contractor's performance and prepares written reports and forms.
- Constructs, installs and repairs infrastructure projects from start to finish.
- Estimates projects to include equipment, materials and costs.
- Performs routine maintenance to industrial plants, buildings and infrastructures such as refinishing and moving office furniture.
- Reconciles daily documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to include work orders, requisitions, and purchase orders.
- Trains and mentors other employees.
- Applies standard practices and procedures in custom design, concrete forming, pouring and finishing, fabrication and installation of cabinetry and casework, custom metal fabrication, custom masonry fabrication, and custom finishes and furnishings needed for large infrastructures.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and public relations.
- Performs basic mathematical calculations.
- Applies safe practices and procedures for hazardous materials.
- Reads, interprets and works from sketches, blueprints, and specifications to evaluate, analyze and resolve construction problems.
- Prepares multiple surfaces and applies required coatings to plant equipment and infrastructure.
- Reconfigures,installs and repairs irrigation systems and removes debris, broken trees and limbs from facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
DECISION MAKING- This position works under limited supervision.
- This position may serve as a technical lead, training entry level employees on assigned daily work and special projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five years' experience in carpentry, masonry, painting, concrete construction, and plumbing including three years' experience in the use and operation of tools, machinery and equipment used in the renovation, remodeling and new construction of work at the highly specialized level.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
- Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Vocational training.
- Certified Irrigation Technician in the State of Texas.
- Basic knowledge of refinishing and restoring office furniture.

- Communicates effectively, verbally and in writing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical requirements include lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling and working in cramped and strained positions for long periods of time to perform job scope.
Working conditions are primarily outside with frequent exposure to inclement weather; wastewater; mechanical, electrical, chemical and confined space hazards; offensive fumes; excessive noise; heavy traffic; deep excavations; and animals, snakes and poisonous insects. May operate a company vehicle on a daily basis.
May be required to work hours other than regular schedule such as on call, overtime, or emergency response situations.
