Position Summary

****PER DIEM OPENING****

Position Summary:
Drives patients to and from UMC facilities to other facilities, and personal residences. May also drive employees to and from hospital parking lots.

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and a safe driving record with no moving violations during the three (3) years prior and no violations of reckless, unsafe or driving under the influence.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid Class C Nevada Driver’s License. Some positions may require Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from American Heart Association (AHA).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Basic automotive maintenance; geography of Las Vegas and surrounding areas; department and hospital emergency response policies and practices; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital safety policies and procedures.

Skill in:
Safely driving a motor vehicle; safely moving patients; applying customer service techniques; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a variety of environments and safely drive a motor vehicle, stamina to remain seated for extended periods of time and maintain concentration, stamina to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and VDT screens, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person, over the telephone, and two-way radio. Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
