Workdays & Hours: Field Operations is a 24/7 Operation - weekend work may be required. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule. This role requires proactive and dependable individuals who can quickly adapt to changing conditions and respond efficiently to urgent situations. The Water Department / Field Operations Division is seeking qualified individuals to fill Utility Line Technician - Wastewater Field Services positions. As the largest division of the Water Department, Field Operations plays a vital role in maintaining the city’s infrastructure and ensuring the reliable delivery of essential services to Fort Worth and surrounding communities.

This position is crucial to the daily operations of the division and directly contributes to the success of the department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of sanitary water and sewer systems, including tasks such as CCTV video review and assessment, collection system smoke testing, line and manhole inspections, and flow monitoring meter installation/maintenance. In addition to technical expertise, the role requires performing manual and physical labor associated with the operation, repair, maintenance, and installation of water and wastewater piping systems throughout the city. Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED certification.
• Minimum of two years of experience
• Possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to obtain a TCEQ Class I Wastewater Collection license is required within twelve months of hire. To obtain this license, you must be able to pass a written test and criminal background check.
• Must be able to pass a physical and drug screen testing

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least one year of previous supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of work order management software.
• Possess a TCEQ Class II Wastewater Collection license or higher.
• Previous experience working with a large water utility.
• Possess a Class A CDL
• PACP, LACP, and MACP certified

Utility Line Technician responsibilities include:

• Provide technical preventative maintenance to water and sewer lines.
• Troubleshoot problems and complaints and provide customer service to residents, contractors, engineers, and development personnel.
• Perform collection system manhole inspections
• Perform smoke testing of collection system lines
• Install, monitor and maintain flow monitoring equipment
• Complete a variety of City specific forms, surveys, and reports
• Provide support to contractors, citizens, other divisions, and departments by means of telephone, email, and face-to-face meetings.

Working Conditions and Physical Demand:

Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and lifting; depending on the assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils, and workspace restrictions. Must be able to work outdoors in all extreme weather conditions.
