POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Services Department's Community Enhancement and Compliance Division is seeking a Senior Code Compliance Officer.

The Senior Code Compliance Officer performs skilled inspections, enforcement and supervisory work to secure compliance with all laws, regulations and ordinances governing land use, minimum housing, signs, zoning, landscaping and related environmental issues. They serve as a senior or lead in performing more complex inspections, enforcement and investigations.

In accordance with Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769, for posting purposes this open-competitive job posting shall be considered as a simultaneous internal and external posting (it is open to both internal City employees and external applicants).

JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Graduated from a standardhigh school or vocational school or possess a G.E.D.certificate from a recognized issuing agencyPossess at least three (3) years of paid work experience dealing with the public in any of the following types of work: code enforcement, urban planning, building inspection, construction or other closely related fieldPossess two (2) F.A.C.E. (Florida Association of Code Enforcement) Certifications (one of which must be Fundamentals of Code Enforcement) Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida driver's license within 30 days from hire date.Supervisory or lead worker experienceAbility to accurately type 40 or more words per minuteRequired certifications and license must be kept current to continue employment in this classIf claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form ( J-204) . to the online application. As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position involves medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Ability to climb, carry, lift, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, walk, push, pull, grasp, stand and access heights or areas where limited space is available.
