Park Maintenance Technician I - Part Time

Pay Rate: $21.75

The City of Olathe's Field Operations Division is currently seeking a Park Maintenance Technician to join our Parks Infrastructure Team. This team services, power washes and cleans, maintains, and repairs all structures within the City of Olathe's parks.

A CDL will not be required for this part time position.

In this role, you will work with a team and independently as you maintain and repair a variety of facilities, equipment, and systems within the City's parks. We’re looking for someone who has a strong mechanical aptitude and can shift gears at a moment’s notice as priorities change. Participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for the maintenance and/or construction of park equipment and structures; to assist with repairs; and to maintain equipment used to perform a variety of park maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:


Qualifications:

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in general construction and/or maintenance.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Licenses and Certificates: Must have a current valid driver's license with favorable driving record. Must obtain a Class A commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement along with DOT medical certificate within six months of employment. May require specialty certification in assigned area.

Environmental or Physical Demands: Will work outside in a variety of weather and environmental conditions. Will be exposed to wind, sun, rain, pollen, allergens, and other elements. This work requires one to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, crawl, twist, and reach frequently throughout the day. Will lift and carry weight up to 80 pounds independently and up to 160 pounds with someone else. Will operate a variety of hand and power tools used in maintenance and construction activities. Will drive or ride from site-to-site multiple times throughout the day.
