ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general direction, the Temporary Aviation Support Manager assigned to the helicopter is responsible for the activities at a helibase to assure the efficient operations of a fire helicopter; conducts daily pilot briefing that includes weather, incident activity, safety topics and regional aircraft status; and performs other duties as required. This is a temporary position during the peak wildland fire season (4-6 months) with a 40-hour per week schedule to support the needs of the Department. ABOUT YOU

Our Highly Qualified Candidate must be able to exercise sound, independent judgment. They have personal and professional integrity, possesses initiative, is organized, has excellent oral and written communication skills, and is tactful. They are able to work independently under general guidance and work in both routine and emergency settings. The ideal candidate must be able to calmly relay dispatch information to flight crew and provides preflight operational briefing. They are capable of completing multiple tasks and projects as they are assigned and can effectively make decisions with little to no supervision. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to maintain time records for incident cost recovery and aircraft use. They understand the importance to maintain the helibase facilities in a manner that supports its expansion in the event of an extended attack fire.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to qualify is equivalent to one (1) year of fire suppression and/or prevention management experience.

Highly Desirable

Fire service aviation experience and/or current or past qualification as a HMGB (Helicopter Manager - Single Resource), or HCWN (Helicopter Manager - Call When Needed).
