The LA County Board of Supervisors has unanimously ratified a Proclamation of Local Emergency in response to the windstorms and wildfires , including the Palisades and Eaton Fires, that have devastated communities across the County. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to assist the County in mobilizing resources and support needed to help our residents recover and rebuild. The Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates to fill an emergency Principal Geographic Information Systems Analystvacancy related to this unprecedented natural disaster.

Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

Before the end of your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Principal Geographic Information Systems Analyst.

Essential Job Functions

A Principal Geographic Information Systems Analyst for this vacancy is responsible for a combination of the following job functions:

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Option I: Two years of experience at the level of Los Angeles County Senior Geographic Information Systems Analyst* performing GIS data analysis, database maintenance and/or GIS application development projects and assignments.

Option II: A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited** college or university with a major in Geographic Information Systems, GIScience, geography or a closely related field that required equivalent coursework in Geographic Information Systems - AND - at least five years of experience in the uses and operations of geographic information systems, including at least two years of experience performing GIS data analysis, database management and/or GIS web application development projects and assignments. An advanced degree in geographic information systems, GIScience, geography or a closely related field that required equivalent coursework in geographic information systems may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
*Experience a t the level of Los Angeles County Senior Geographic Information Systems Analyst is defined as: Performs complex and organization-wide Geographic Information System (GIS) duties; imports, integrates, extracts and analyzes data for a variety of decision support purposes; develops trend analysis and forecasting models; designs, develops and maintains data layers and data sets .
