Description
Description Our Mission The City of Palo Alto is recruiting for a Teen Program Assistant who will be assisting with various Teen related programs and the Teen Center. The goal of the Community Services Department is to offer teen programs that provide a range of activities to meet all the needs of the community and to sustain a positive quality of life!
The Position
Under general supervision of the Youth and Teen Recreation Coordinator, the Teen Program Assistant assist in managing teen related programs such as the Mitchell Park Teen Center, Palo Alto Youth Council, Teen Advisory Board, and ThinkFund. The tentative schedule for this position is 2:30pm - 6:30pm Tuesday - Friday. This recruitment is open on a continuous basis, and will close once the position is filled. Duties - Manage, analyze, and report attendance numbers at the Mitchell Park Teen Center
- Support in communication with program participant parents.
- Attend Teen Leadership Meetings for both Palo Alto Youth Council and Teen Advisory Board
- Assist in recruitment, planning events, scheduling meetings, and send out communication related materials regarding any teen related programs.
- Create and distribute program promotional items and information.
- Push information through social media and online outlets.
- Provide support in program logistics for events, workshops, field trips, etc.
- Maintain, distribute, and organize files and documents for teen program.
- Assist in handling program budgets and purchasing program supply.
- Assist in maintaining the content on our youth and teen program's website and social media channels.
- Participate in staff meetings and on-going training opportunities.
- Comply with all City of Palo Alto policies and procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications - Some college level coursework in recreation, youth development, or related fields.
- At least one year experience providing administrative support to programs.
- A flexible schedule to work in various youth and teen related programs and special events
- Intermediate skill level in: Microsoft Office Programs; Adobe InDesign OR Illustrator
Supplemental InformationThis is an SEIU Hourly position with limited benefits that is budgeted to not exceed 999 hours per fiscal year (July - June). The number of hours per week and schedule will be determined based on assignment. In lieu of providing a medical plan, the City grants a medical stipend of $3.48.
