Starting pay for this position is $15.50 to $16.25 depending on experience.

Animal Care Technicians are needed daily during the availability to work Saturdays and Sundays and a rotating schedule on holidays is a must. This position is full-time, and will be scheduled 5 days for a total of 40 hours per week.

An Animal Care Technician plays a pivotal role in maintaining the well-being and health of animals within the Olathe Animal Shelter. This position requires a compassionate and responsible approach to animal welfare, as technicians are responsible for ensuring the comfort, cleanliness, and care of the animals in their charge.

Key Responsibilities


Qualifications

Experience: Must be at least18 years of age. Prior work in kennel and/or cattery environments, experience recognizing and working with canine and feline behavior, and experience in recognizing common canine and feline diseases is preferred. Knowledge of proper kennel cleaning techniques, animal handling and behavior, animal nutrition, rabies control, animal segregation and isolation, and maintenance of equipment used in animal handling and shelter operations is also preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: None.

Environmental of Physical Demands: This role requires periods of prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, full-range of motion with the arms, and the ability to individually lift up to 50 pounds. The work requires exposure to allergens, such as pet fur and dander, strong cleaning agents, loud noises, and a variety of outdoor weather conditions.
